About Verizon Servicepoint

Verizon Servicepoint is an application used by the Verizon Internet Security Suite services to deliver up-to-date information on security issues to subscribers, to ensure that the software or updates required for services subscriptions is delivered and ready to use, and to allow Verizon Online to communicate with subscribers regarding Verizon Online services.

Verizon Servicepoint facilitates the fulfillment of these services by notifying users about necessary downloads. Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if Verizon Servicepoint is running?
Start the Windows Task Manager. On the Processes tab look for VerizonServicepoint.exe. If it appears in the list, Verizon Servicepoint is running.

How do I display the Servicepoint message window?
The Servicepoint window appears automatically when a message must be displayed according to the message schedule set by Verizon. The window cannot be brought up on demand.

Why am I seeing messages in the Windows notification area?
Verizon Servicepoint periodically displays two kinds of windows: Messages and Updates. The Messages window displays messages from Verizon. These messages include important security alerts or information about new services Verizon is offering.

The Updates window appears if an update to the Servicepoint software itself is available.

How do I stop receiving alerts temporarily?
Click Start > Programs > Verizon Servicepoint > Stop Service.

To resume the service, click Start > All Programs > Verizon Servicepoint > Start Service.
If the service is stopped and the Run on Startup preference is enabled, Servicepoint resumes automatically the next time you log on.

I click ‘Close Window’ in the message window but it keeps coming back
The Close Window button on the message window only temporarily closes the window. Messages that require user interaction, such as those necessary for the fulfillment or update of services you have subscribed to, may be displayed periodically until the service is successfully installed and ready to use.

If your intent is to stop Servicepoint from showing a specific message:

  • Click Don’t show this alert again in the message. This will prevent the message from showing again. This option is not available for critical messages requiring user interaction such as those necessary for the fulfillment of services you have specifically subscribed to.

If your intent is to stop Servicepoint from showing any messages:

  • Select the Stop Service item in the Windows Start menu click:
Start > All Programs > Verizon Servicepoint > Stop Service.

This will stop all messages from showing until Verizon Servicepoint is restarted using the Start Service item in the Windows Start menu.

Why did I stop receiving a message?
A message can stop reappearing for the following reasons:

  • You clicked Don't show this alert again on the message window, should this option be available.
  • The defined time period for the message is over since it no longer applies.
  • Verizon Servicepoint is not running.

If I unsubscribe to the Security Advisor Service, will I stop receiving messages?
Start the Windows Task Manager. On the Processes tab look for VerizonServicepoint.exe. If it appears in the list, Verizon Servicepoint is running.

I’m trying to close Verizon Servicepoint, but it keeps telling me that I can’t because another application is using it.
What can I do?
This happens when a Verizon web page is trying to communicate with Verizon Servicepoint in order to have it manage the download of a service you requested.

You can choose to close the web page in the web browser. Should there be a technical difficulty, you can also use the Windows Task Manager to stop Verizon Servicepoint.

How do I stop the Verizon Servicepoint from launching at startup?

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Verizon Servicepoint > Preferences.
  2. Clear the Run on Startup check box.
  3. Click OK.
